I have a 1200 watt Amp in my truck. what kind of fuse holder should I get and what kind of fuse should i get?
I just recently melted my agu fuse holder and it had a 40 amp fuse in it.
I am pretty sure the wire gauge is 4. I currently have an agu fuse holder with a 40 amp fuse and the fuse holder melted along with the inside of the fuse. This is why I need some help

That should be expected. Way too much power for that little of a fuse. I would strongly recommend and ANL type fuse and fuse holder. Either full size or the mini. The lowest I would recommend would be 120 amp, I would tell you to go for a 150 amp. And if your not already, step up from 8awg wire into 4.
I would still go with 4awg wire, just because the peak is still 1200 watts. At peak, that would be a risk for 8awg wire. As far as fuse, at 300 RMS, go with a 100amp ANL fuse.
