Is this a valid reason for missing class?
starting an anti-depressant that makes you really drowsy so you accidentally sleep through class?
Because I usually have to snooze my alarm a lot before I actually get up, but I can't even remember touching my alarm clock and it going off. I've done the sleeping-through class I think twice in the past week, and I usually don't wake up til 4pm. it's really weird missing all the classes and I don't know what to say.
and when I say "sleep through class," I mean all six of them.
Yes, it is. You've been diagnosed with a medical illness and the side-effects of the treatment are well-known. (What if you had cancer instead of depression and were sick due to chemo?)
Two suggestions:
Read your school's handbook. They will have specific guidelines regarding illnesses as well as your and their responsibilities. They might require you speak with your professors so everyone can make the required accommodations as quickly as possible.
Talk to your doctors, see how long they think it will take for your body to adjust. They might want to wait it out, change the dosage or switch medicines.
