Popped something inside the amp. Some units use a small diode called polarity protection diode that actually goes bad with unit is hooked up backwards. The thought is that the diode will go bad fast to prevent further damage to the rest of the amp. open the amp look for a short black device about 1/4" long about the size of a large pencil lead very close to where the red and black wire go to the circuit board. It will have a with ring around one side, in your case the white ring may be "smoked", take something like an awl and push against it. a burnt one will pop right open. you can also use an ohm meter. It passes dc in one direction and blocks in the other direction. if yours is bad, look at someplace like Radio Shack for a new diode. 12-20 volts, 1/2 to 2 Amps depending on what is there.
