What size fuse do i use?
i am putting a lightning audio b4.250.2 Amp. I am planning on using this 8 gauge wiring kit... http://www.woofersetc.com/p13/POWERKIT2--American-Accessories-8-Gauge-Amp-Kit.htm. it comes with a inline fuse and a 60 amp fuse. Is this right for keeping my amplifier and my vehicle safe? i was wondering what size fuse would i need. i guess i really don't understand what the inline fuse does... thank you 
A fuse is designed to protect electrical devices and/or circuits from excess current flow. It does this by being the weak link in the chain. If too much current is flowing through the circuit, hopefully the fuse will blow instead of the wires melting or the device being damaged, or either of those starting a fire. Basically, the wire in the fuse is slightly thinner than the wires it's protecting.
Since the wiring kit came with a 60 amp fuse, I assume the people selling it think it is the right size for that wire. Sounds about right to me, off the top of my head. 8 gauge is pretty thick wire for automotive use. Your device on the other hand (in this case the amp), may need a smaller fuse to protect it, and there most likely will be another fuse installed in it.
Oh, and yeah, Pinger is right about wanting the fuse as close as practical to the battery, and I might add, on the Positive cable.
