What kind of cable would I need for an iPod to car?
My wife's car stereo has an AUX port, so I'm wondering what kind of cable I should use to connect her iPod to it. I saw some that connect to the bottom of the iPod, then the aux end, and then one cable that has 2 aux connectors. I'm assuming on the second one end could be plugged into the stereo, and the other into the headphone jack of the iPod. Which one is better, or is there another cable I should be using? I will NOT use one of the car-charger ones where you have to select a radio station to hear the music. The sound quality is horrible.
She doesn't have a tape deck. And, once again, it has an AUX port, so I wouldn't need a tape.
Is this AUX port on the front face of your stereo? If so, I am assuming it is an IN port. This is very good for you because, all you need is a wire that plugs into the headphone jack and into your AUX. This wire costs no more than $5. You can get it at Radio Shack, Best Buy, Circuit City etc. Just tell them what you need the cable for, and they will get you the right one.
I would take the car with you so you can go out and verify the wire is the correct one before driving away.
Either port on your IPod is as good as the other. However one thing to keep in mind is that the one wire method from your headphone jack means you will be running the ipod off it's battery unless you buy something that also goes from your cigarette liter type electric source to your bottom connector on your ipod to keep it charged.
