Which Enclosure should I go with Sealed, Vented, or Bandpass?
Hi I have two 12'' Cadence CVLW 12-4 subs with a Audiobahn A12001DT Amp and I was trying to decide what type of enclosure I should put them in. Right now I have them in a Q Logic Bandpass box and it sounds like crap. My bass doesnt thump and you can barely hear them outside the car. To give you a better idea of my current enclosure ive included a link http://www.qlogicenclosures.com/images/category/medium/4623.jpg Question is should I go with a sealed, vented, or a different bandpass box? Also is the box that I currently have the reason why my subs sound so crappy? I know Cadence usually makes really good products so I just wanna make sure before I start blaming the subs for not thumping like I want them to. In the Cadence manual it says that the woofers could be used in both vented and sealed enclosures so now I just need help trying to figure out which box would work best. I listen to alot of rap and r&b musiq and I really want my system to pound!! Thanks for the help!!
The type of box could be your problem or it could be the type of vehicle you drive. Sealed and Vented enclosures are the most common nowadays over bandpass boxes. I've experimented with all 3 types of enclosures and prefab bandpass boxes are tuned to a certain Hz and don't sound as good as people think they should. I would recommend either using a sealed or vented enclosure and let the bandpass box go. Again my opinion and experience. Sealed will use up less room in the trunk of your car. Vented boxes use more air space. So it's Your Choice on how much room you are willing to use in the trunk. I hope this helps.
