Audio and Video wiring into a car?
Just got a boss audio/video/mp3 player for my 98 pontiac sunfire but when i did the wiring the harness i bought does not have a pink wire (labeled illuminating control) and the orange wire (labeled reversing signal) were capped off from my original deck so i didn't wire it. i did everything else right but the deck wont play any cd's or dvd's like it was supposed to. the screen actually just looked static-y and no sound came out... any guesses at what could've gone wrong and what i could wire the pink wire to? [the two orange wires on the harness say one is for the illumination and the other is for the "dimmer"] which wire goes to pink and which goes to orange?!
well i got two orange wires and one is dimmer and the other is illumination... now the deck itself came with a fuse box already... and the wires are standard size... thanks but not much help...
Some decks require a lot of power and a car like that I'll bet has a fairly small power wire. Find which one is power on your stereo and wire a power wire of the proper gauge thickness to a better power source or right to your battery. Make sure you wire in a fuse holder and fuse too. Get the appropriate thickness for the fuse holder and proper size fuse. Usually if it's a pink wire it's auxilirary. Orange is common for illumination or dimmer, which most of the time is the same thing.
