what is causing the constant screeching noise in my car speakers?
aftermarket Amp and xm radio. just recently started a humming or screeching that is constant. gets worse as the rpm's on the truck fluxuate. have been told its a bad filter, but in the amp or the stereo??? would like to fix the prob myself if possible
If you have a whining noise in your system that varies in pitch with the RPM of the engine (and disappears when the engine is off), then you are experiencing alternator whine. Ground everything in the audio system (equalizers, crossovers, etc) to a single point near the Amplifier to eliminate the ground loop. Also separate the RCA wires from the power lines, any power wire in the car can induce noise trhough the RCA causing the engine whine. Scratch some paint fromthe ground spot in the chassis , expose the bare metal for better conductivity.
