Opinions on HID/Xenon Light Conversion Kits?
I've been on eBay looking at HID/Xenon Light conversion kits to change my old halogen bulbs in my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee to these much brighter lights. I've read though that these HID lights can sometimes have a scattered beam since the original light housing isn't made for these lights. Opinions and reviews on personal experiences would be great, Thanks!
Are any of these conversion kits illegal in the U.S. due to blinding other drivers?
I have 4 of these kits on my personal vehicles, all bought from eBay from the same seller. I can tell you that there is some slight difference in the beam going from a standard sealed halogen headlight, to a projector housing, but it really isn't that big of a difference. A good example is my wife has a 2002 WRX with the standard housing, and my daily driver is a 2005 lancer evolution, with the projector housing, and using the same temperature bulbs (6000k) the light is a little more focused in the evo, than the WRX, but nothing that will distract from driving. I can tell you you will NOT regret the switch. Just stay with a good color temp, and not anything too extreme and you will be fine. I would suggest either 3000k (yellow), 6000k (pure white), or 8000k (medium blue). These will be your brightest (6000k the best) and give you what you are looking for.
