im putting a 94 camaro lt1 in a 71 chevelle and i need some helpful advise on installation and wiring thankyou?
hi im 21 and i work for a toward yard in ca and recently came across a 94 z28 camaro recked in the back but motor tranny are 100 %,i also have my 71 chevelle project here at the yard also so i got the crazy idea of putting the camaro motor in the chevelle and i would love to do it myself i've rebuilt 2 chevelles already 69 and 70 from the ground up so i got a general idea but the lt1 is like a diff. language to me i kept the wiring harness the computer and the main fuse box form under the hood i still have the camaro incase i still need parts fuel pump power steering pump fuses etc... so im ready to drop the motor in the chevelle now but am not sure how a lt1 even works what goes were and what needs to be plugged in or bypassed so any helpful advise or website would be deeply deeply appreciated thank you
ALSO WHAT IS THE EASIEST WAY TO REPLACE MY FRONT DRUM BRAKES WITH DISK BRAKES ON THE CHEVELLE... AND WHICH CAR CAN I PULL THE FRONT DISK BRAKES FROM THAT WILL FIT THE CHEVELLE
It's a lot of work, but it can be done! You need to re-use most of the wiring and computer off the Camaro, use the gas tank or retrofit the electric fuel pump, and run an extra fuel line for the return. See if you can use the steering column, fuses, computer, and wiring out of the Camaro, it will be much easier to put in. I believe the motor mounts are father back on the LS-1 engine, too so you have to move the motor and tranny mounts, also! It will be cool when ya get it done, but you have a ton of work ahead of you!
