I was trying to install a new JVC car stereo and now has casued my interior and trunk lights to stop working.?
I have a '98 Dodge Neon. I bought a new JVC car stereo and using a resource (http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/DCP/Neon.html) I tried to hook it up. (I used the info from Page 5 in the pdf to find out the color coding for the wires, hope its right). My biggest problem was getting the GND (black) wire wired up to the car chassis, and I did try to force it in between the wires already bolted there.
When I wired it up, the radio kept searching for stations and I figured the antenna was not hooked up. So I was going to hook up the antenna wire, when I am not sure what (a loose connection, blown fuse, etc) but the radio lost power. I checked for any loose connections (in my wiring) and all fuses, they seemed ok.
My interior lights and trunk lights and also the alarm that come on when you open the door with your headlamps on have all shut down and they don't work anymore. I also checked the metal chassis bolt point and no wires seem to be out. I am not sure why. Please help
sounds like you made a wire loose when you try to force the wire though. take a test light and check all of the wires. it will take some time but that's the only way to fix it.
