I have a 99 lincoln town car and sometimes when im driving the brake light comes on?
I have a 99 lincoln town car and sometimes when im driving the brake light comes on , on the dashboard. When I press the emergency brake with my foot it doesnt light up! What the heck?
It could be as simple as low brake fluid in your master cylinder reservoir, when stoping, turning, taking off, the level sensor in the reservoir constantly reads the fluid level, and if the sensor reads a low fluid reading, your light will come on. As far as when you hit the e-brake and the light does not come on,,,who cares?, does that really matter anyway?, probably just a bad e-brake pedal switch, don't sweat that. Now there is a anti lock brake lifght too, but it is a yellow light in the dash, you did not specify the color. We need more info, ie..is your brake pedal soft?, does it fade while braking?, do you have to keep topping of the reservoir?, does it come on while braking? You really need to be more descriptive if you want a good educated diagnosis. Oh yeah, it could be the reservoir level sensor on your master cylinder.
