8 speakers and a 4 Channel Amp (no component-packaged speakers)?
I'm replacing the stock 9-channel Infinity amp in my 1999 Chrysler (damaged internal crossovers--previous owner's fault). I plan to discard the center dash speaker, so I only need to power 8 speakers, those being four tweeters and four midbass woofers
The system was originally designed to power each speaker individually (hence, 9 channels). What do I need to power all of my speakers with a 4-channel Amplifier?
i.e. take one channel from the amp and divide it (and high/low pass filter it) between two speakers (one midbass, one tweeter--disregard center dash speaker)
All speakers are factory and rated for 2-ohm.
Tweeters do not have a built in crossover.
first you need to check those speakers to see what ohm load they are. then use this http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp to determine the best way to wire them. you may find it easier to dedicate 2 channels to tweeters and 2 channels to mid basses. that way you can do all your filtering at the amplifier instead of using passive crossovers.
