Can an av switcher be used in reverse?
I have an AV switcher already so I can select xbox, dvd player, vcr, ps3, sky etc etc, where they all plug into the back and then one output lead goes to my tv.
Ive just purchased a projector and want to have another box to select an output.
So I will use the existing AV switcher and then take the output from that into a second switcher which will select one of 3 outputs (PC monitor, tv & projecter).
I cant find an output selector so my question is can I use an input selector and put it in reverse.
ie. a switcher that would normally have 3 inputs say xbox, ps3, dvd player and would go to 1 TV and turn it into one source and 3 outputs?
Like this one for example:

Thanks.
Yes, the cheap ones will work backwards. These are the ones that mechanically change contacts. The more expensive ones with say, auto-sensing or Remote Control will probably not. I've had my tv & projector hooked up backwards through one of these...

Or...if you wanted to consolidate a little bit, you could eliminate the need of two boxes (and getting up out of your chair) by getting an auto-sensing switch box that already has two outputs like this one...
