How can I remain awake and alert when working 6pm-6am shifts for the first time?
I found out that in 2 days time I will be starting a job which requires me to work 6pm to 6am. My sleeping patterns are such that I normally go to bed around midnight and rise around 9am.
How can I quickly adjust to these new ungodly working hours, and remain alert for the whole shift?
Oh, and the job is a taxi driver.
Thanks!
Nice hours, I used to work 5.30am-3pm when before I'd usually go to bed at 3-4am. Best thing to do is to try to get into the habit before you actually start the job. Try not to rely too much on coffee etc, especially if you're going to be cooped up in a taxi for long hours!
Other than that I'd suggest taking a notepad or book or something to keep your mind active when you're sitting around waiting for people. Your body shouldn't take too long to adapt really.
Good luck with the new job!
