What is a good low-end crossover frequency setting for 5.25" midrange home speakers?
I have six 5.25" midrange speakers, two 2" tweeters, three 1" tweeters, and two 10" woofers in my home theater setup through which I play music and movies. Currently I have my crossover setting so that frequencies below 100Hz do not hit my 5.25 speakers. But it sometimes sounds a little better at 150Hz... maybe because they are cheapies. (I believe the tweeters have built-in capacitors which limit their frequencies to the high-end.) Please advise what is an average frequency range to limit low-end frequencies for 5.25" speakers. Thanks!
It really depends upon what the 5½" drivers' frequency response rating is. It sounds like the higher up you x-over the better. Try 200 Hz or 250 Hz and see which sounds best. That will be your best way to find out -your ear.
