When did you start showing with your first child and when did you start wearing maternity clothes?
I am 5 weeks today and my husband asked when I would start showing. He is having a hard time letting the pregnancy hit him because he hasn't seen any proof like an ultra sound or a belly, he says those things will really make him realize it. This is my first pregnancy and I am 5'2 and petite with a little bit of belly fat. I wonder how long it will be before I show...
My first pregnancy, I was able to hide it until I was 5 months along (I'm 5'2). Then I stayed pretty small until I hit 7 months, and at 8 months, I was "done", and felt uncomfortable. I wore maternity clothes around the 4 month mark.
My second pregnancy, I popped out at 8 weeks, but that was a lot because the two pregnancies were close together so my body was stretched out already. I had to go to maternity clothes at 9 weeks then.
It all depends on how much weight you gain too - I gained 28 with my first, and 35 (8 of it was water weight - another joy of pregnancy) in my second.
Congratulations on the pregnancy. Once your hubby sees the ultrasound or hears the heartbeat (usually at the first visit), he'll realize its really there. However, some men need tangible proof like holding the baby to feel its real.
