What do I hook the blue wire to when there is no corresponding blue wire in my radio harness for my 98 Intrepi
I am swapping out my old cassette player from my 98 Intrepid to a CD player from a 2005 Dakota. I bought a wiring harness to convert the old two plug style harness in the car to the new one plug harness in the radio, but the blue wire (for the Amp) doesn't have a corresponding wire in the new harness. I get power, but no sound. Which wire should I tie it in with?
Revised---is it necessary to hook up the blue wire to something even though I don't have an amp?
At this point everything is hooked up correctly color wise, but no sound at all. I have power, can save stations, the CD spins, etc but no sound output.
You can run a fused wire from the ACC (or any wire that's HOT when he car is on) in your ignition to a switch then to the REM connection on the amp.
This will allow you full control as you can turn the amp off so you don't give grandma a heart attach while she's in the car and you never have to worry about forgetting to turn off the amp as it will turn off when the car is off.

"Revised---is it necessary to hook up the blue wire to something even though I don't have an amp?"
No. Use a crimp style butt connector to "cap it off" or tape it (not recommended as tape can lose it's tackyness).
