Pioneer Sub and Kicker Amp setup?
I'm planning on getting a Pioneer Sub woofer Dual Coil 2 ohms and I'm just wondering how do you usually wire this kind of sub to an amplifier. I have a 5-Channel Kicker amp by the way.
As for sub and amp RMS matching:
Subwoofer Rated at 200RMS(4ohms) and Amplifier Rated at 250RMS(4ohms) => amp is 50RMS over, i know you can adjust the gain on the amp but will this have any effect on the sub? and vice versa?

Power Handling:
* Peak: 1000 watts
* RMS: 350 watts
Impedance: Dual 2 ohms
KICKER ZX700.5 Amplifier
RMS Power Rating:
4 ohms: 70 watts x 4 chan. + 210 watts x 1 Class D Sub channel
2 ohms: 85 watts x 4 chan. + 420 watts x 1 Class D Sub channel
4 ohms (bridged): 130 watts x 2 chan. + 420 watts x 1 chan. (2 ohms sub channel, 210 watts @ 4 ohms)
I read this wrong the first time...
About the power issue...
Your sub is 350 watts rms. Your amp is 210 watts rms, for the sub channel which puts you at 140 watts under... Not sure where you got 50 watts under. This won't really matter. It's hard to hurt a sub by underpowering in this way as long as you have wired the system, and adjusted the amp correctly. Same goes for the amp, it should be fine.
Gain is used to adjust the sensativity coming from the head unit. Adjusting this will affect how loud your sub plays, but will harm your system if not adjusted correctly. There are directions on the JL audio website about how to adjust this correctly. If your gain is turned down too low, then your subs will sound quiet. If your gain is too high, then your amp will be working too hard to produce power, and you'll likely ruin it. You'd best just adjust it to where it's supposed to be because the difference in power ratings between the sub and the amp shouldn't matter.
